Cabbage Paratha

Cabbage Paratha

Cabbage Paratha is a healthy and tasty Indian flat bread. This dish can be served in breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This flat bread is a very good lunch box idea too.

There are two methods in preparing parathas. One is by stuffing  or by adding any vegetable directly into the dough while kneading. In this recipe i am stuffing cabbage. 

Cabbage Paratha can be served hot or warm with Pickle, yogurt or with dal.

Ingredients :

For Dough:

Wheat flour - 11/2 Cup
Salt - 1/4 Tsp
Oil - 2 Tsp
Water as required to knead

For Stuffing:

Oil - 1 Tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Grated cabbage  - 2 Cup
Turmeric - 1/4 Tsp
Chilly Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 Tsp
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves finely chopped

Method:

Preparing Dough
1. In a mixing bowl add wheat flour, salt and oil.

2. Add some water knead the dough. Dough should be soft. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 20 min.


Preparing Stuffing
1. Grate the cabbage and squeeze the water. It is easy to cook fast.
2. In a kadai add some oil and cumin seeds. When cumin seeds starts sputtering add grated cabbage and fry till it becomes translucent.

3. Now add spice powders and salt to taste. Mix it and fry for a minute.

4. Transfer it to bowl and allow it to cool.

5. Add chopped coriander leaves. Now the stuffing is ready.


Preparing Parathas
1. Take some dough and roll it to 4 to 5 inch diameter and in the center place some stuffing.

2. Close the edges as shown in the picture.

3. Roll into the circle.

4. Heat tawa and place the rolled paratha.

5. Spread some oil or ghee and flip the other side.

6. Serve hot or warm Cabbage Paratha with pickle or yogurt or with dal.
