Palak Paneer

Palak Paneer

Palak Paneer is a vegetarian dish. It is one of the popular North Indian dish. It is healthy and easy to prepare. Palk paneer is basically cottage cheese cooked in spinach puree. It is a medium spiced gravy. 

Palal paneer can be prepared in different ways. I made this in a very simple way without adding any cream or nuts. To make it restaurant / daaba style use cream or nuts. 

Ingredients:

Spinach / Palak - 2 Bunch
Cottage Cheese / Paneer - 150 gm
Onion - 1 Medium size
Tomato - 1 Medium size
cloves - 1 Num
Cinnamon - 1/2 inch
Pepper - 10 Num
Green Chilly - 1 Num
Cumin seeds - 1/2 Tsp
Asafoetida - 1 Pinch
Chilly Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric - 1/4 Tsp
Oil - 3 Tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 Tsp
Salt as needed

 Method :

1. Wash the palak leaves well in running water.
2. In a pan add 4 to 5 cups of water. when it starts boiling add green chilly and palak. Boil it for 2 to 3 min

 3. In a mixing jar add palak, green chilly, cloves, pepper and cinnamon. Make it a puree. No need to add water.

4. In a kadai add some oil and let it splutter. Add a pinch of asafoetida ( optional )
5. Add finely chopped onions.
 
6. Saute the onions till it becomes translucent. Add finely chopped tomato
7. When tomato becomes soft add turmeric, and chilly powder.
8. Stir well and add palak puree.
9. Mix it well and add a cup of water.
10. When it starts boiling add garam masala, salt and paneer cubes.


11. Cook it not more than 2 min. it makes the paneer hard. Switch off the flame.
12. Serve hot Palak Paneer with roti, kulcha, naan or even withrice.
