Tomato Rasam

Tomato Rasam

Tomato Rasam is a South Indian soup which is a best combination for rice. There are many variety of rasam. But this one is quite easy to make. It consumes good amount of tomato. This rasam can also be had as a soup. South Indian Traditional meal is not complete without rasam.

Ingredients :

Tomato - 2 to 3 Num
Onion - 1 medium
Coconut - 2 Tsp
Curry leaves - 4 -5 leaves
Rasam Powder - 3/4 Tsp
Pepper - 10 - 15 Num
Cumin seede - 1/2 Tsp
Coriander leaves - 2 Tsp finely chopped

For Temper :

Oil or Ghee - 2 Tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp
Curry leaves - 2 - 3 leaves
Green chilly - 1 Num
Asafoetida - 1 Pinch

Method :


1. Cook 2- 3 tomatoes 

2, In a mixing jar add cooked tomatoes, small pieces of onion, coconut, pepper, cumin seeds, curry leaves, rasam powder.  
 

3. Grind it to the smooth paste adding water                                                                                           
                                                                                       
4. In a pan add oil and mustard seeds. when mustard seeds starts spluttering add asafoetida, curry leaves and green chilly. Now the temper is ready.

5. Add the paste to this temper adding some water. It should be of consistency of soup. And let it boil.
       
     6. When it starts boiling add salt and coriander leaves.
    7.Serve rasam with hot rice and ghee.
